PFO Meeting--Minutes

The meeting was called to order at 6:10 p.m.

 Old Business: 
A presenter will be sought for a program on “Parent Rights when a Child Reaches Sixteen”.

 Topics discussed:
Introductions were made.

The annual fundraising activities were reviewed.  These include the Fall Craft Fair ( November 6, 2004 ), the Country Antiques Show ( March 19, 2005 ), and the Winter Thaw Flea Market ( April 9, 2005 ).  In addition this year The Court Jester’s Basketball Game will take place on October 8, 2004 .

A budget for the year was proposed to include anticipated yearly income and expenses, with designation of reserve funds to include reconstruction of antique show booths, matching funds for annual Project Graduation, and a year of operating expenses.

Websites for school communication were reviewed.  These include www.cttech.org/ellis , www.ellistechpfo.org , and www.schoolnotes.com

The need for help to organize the upcoming Court Jesters Game was discussed.  Specific assistance is need with organizing a team, advertising, ticket sales and the concession.

Ellis Tech will participate in Big Y’s Education Express Program.  Our code is #6710.

Motions:  

#1 A motion to accept the budget as proposed was made by Phil Blinn and seconded by Pat Palonen.  The motion carried.

#2 A motion to purchase another $5000 CD with reserve funds was made by Phil Blinn and seconded by Pat Palonen.  The motion carried.

#3 A motion was made to designate $10,000 to be divided in graduated amounts (Currently $4000 available to the Class of 2005, $3000 to the Class of 2006, $2000 to the Class of 2007and $1000 to the Class of 2008) to be provided as a matching grant to classes in conjunction with advisors and parents who wish to organize a Post Prom/Project Graduation.  The motion was made by Chris Millette and seconded by Phil Blinn.  The motion carried.

 #4 A motion to purchase a bound ledger book and receipt books up to $50 was made by Phil Blinn and seconded by Nancy Hamel.  The motion carried.

 #5 A motion to add Steve Thomas and Brian Legare as additional check signers was made by Linda Edmonds and seconded by Pat Palonen.  The motion carried.

 
#6 A motion to pay $600 plus 60% of the ticket revenue to the Court Jesters for the game/assemblies was made by Phil Blinn and seconded by Nancy Hamel.  The motion carried.

 #7 A motion to pay up to $150 for an ad in both the Shoppers Guide and the Turnpike Buyer was made by Nancy Hamel and seconded by Phil Blinn.  The motion carried.

 #8 A motion to order basketball shirts for the Ellis Tech Dream Team up to $100 was made by Phil Blinn and seconded by Nancy Hamel.  The motion carried.

 #9 A motion to pay $125 toward the Fall Basketball League was made by Phil Blinn and seconded by John Haskell.  The motion carried.

 #10 A motion to pay $65 for 3 needy and deserving student to attend to the upcoming hair show was made by Phil Blinn and seconded by Nancy Hamel.  The motion carried.

 #11 A motion was made to reimburse Linda Edmonds and Jan Praytor for the initial PFO mailing (which included a welcome letter, a Help Wanted sign up sheet, a Court Jesters flyer/order form, and a fundraiser order form) up to $260. The motion was made by Melody Guillemette and seconded by Phil Blinn.  The motion carried.

 #12 A motion to purchase food up to $500 for the concession at the Court Jesters Game was made by Melissa Jensen and seconded by Pat Palonen.  The motion carried.  

The meeting adjourned at 7:30 p.m.
