PFO Meeting – Minutes

March 9, 2006

The meeting was called to order at 7:05 p.m., after the last parent information forum, “Tech Prep or How to Earn College Credits While Still in High School.”  

Topics Discussed:

The minutes from the February 9 & 14, 2006, meetings were reviewed. 

 Melody Guillemette informed the PFO that Mr. Erickson had not received payment for the senior’s science kits that had been approved at the previous PFO meeting.  Linda Edmonds, PFO Treasurer, stated it had been mailed. 

There was a discussion about funding materials/supplies for students (Central Office Foundation versus PFO.)

 

A request from Jessica Bibeau to supply 40 boxes of tissues for the diversity program was discussed.  Melody Guillemette offered to donate all 40 boxes.  Also, it was disclosed that Jessica Bibeau was chosen as Teacher of the Year at Ellis for next year.

 There was a discussion about the senior class funds.  The Class of 2006 Little Caesar fundraiser total was $2004.50 with the class profit being $600.00, after paying the cost of the product which is $1404.50.

 Questions were compiled for anticipated meeting with the Business Office Manager.

 There was discussion regarding the protocol for Request for Funds from the PFO.

 The Antique Show is on schedule and help is needed distributing posters, coupons, etc.  The Car Show is cancelled.  The Flea Market is going to be Saturday, May 13, 2006 and volunteers are needed.

 There will be a Foxwood’s Bingo fundraiser for the Class of 2006.

 Melody Guillemette verbally resigned as PFO President. 

 The idea of having a Faculty Appreciation event was presented and discussed.

 There was a discussion regarding freshmen Exploratory shirts/kits for orientation night and the possibility of recycling this year’s shirts.  

Motions:

Motion #1.   A motion to accept the minutes was made by Kathi Williams, seconded by Greg Kline.  The motion carried.

Motion #2.   A motion was made by Linda Edmonds to recommend funding be pursued through the Central Office Foundation for equipment needed; and, if there is a negative response the PFO will purchase it for the shop at a cost of $401. 43, seconded by Diane Chamberland.  The motion carried.

Motion #3.   A motion to accept the request for $1404.50 to cover the cost of the product for the Class of 2006 Little Caesar’s fundraiser was made by Laurie Brunsdon, seconded by Pat Palonen.  The motion carried.

Motion #4.   A motion to write a check for $1575.77 to Ellis Tech Class of 2006 for the next payment on the senior trip was made by Melody Guillemette, seconded by Dodie Mineau.  The motion carried.

The meeting adjourned at 8:25 p.m.
