PFO Meeting--Minutes

January 27, 2005

 

Attendance:

 The meeting was called to order at 6:20 p.m.

 Old Business: 

The PFO is planning to sponsor a presentation entitled, “Parent’s Rights When Your Child Reaches 16”.  A panel of experts from DCF and the state police will speak to the issue and field questions. The expected date of the event is February 16, and it will be advertised as a public service to the community.  In addition, information will be disseminated to Ellis Tech parents via the auto-dialer.

The capital expenditure for new antique show booths is being postponed until next year.  The money remains available for this purpose

Topics discussed:

A letter from the PFO President at Wright Tech was read.

 Motions:

Motion #1 A motion was made to pay $15 of the $20 per student fee up to $300 for students to attend the Freshmen Class Leadership Conference at NFA.  The motion was made by Chris Millette and seconded by Pat Palonen.  The motion carried.

Motion #2   A motion was made to provide $600 for the indirect costs associated with the science grant which will be incurred if this fee is not waived by the State of Connecticut .  The motion was made by Dodie Mineau and seconded by Pat Palonen.

Motion #3   A motion to provide up to $1000 for the Sophomore Trip to Washington , D.C. was made by Pat Palonen and seconded by Chris Millette.  The motion carried.

The meeting adjourned at 7:30 p.m.
